It all began...

Because I wanted a family milk cow. I had never milked a cow before, I had never even tasted fresh milk before. My Ex-husband and I leased a cattle ranch and I somehow talked (more like conned) him into a nurse cow for orphaned calves. We saved our Pennies, bought our first family cow who had bright copper red bangs and named her Penny. She was the first cow I ever petted and actually liked it. She was unique, she was animated, and she was the gatekeeper of healing my family.

I knew fresh raw milk was healthy for you, but it didn't become urgent to me until my kids came along. Their tummies just couldn't handle pasteurized milk. As a parent, this is the most frustrating thing to go through. When your kids love milk and are constantly asking for it, yet you know the end result will be constipation, irritability and even eczema. It is a daily struggle we as parents go through. It took me quite a while of milking and getting my sanitation routine down, to confidently give my family raw milk. Then the extended family. Then the neighbors. I almost felt guilty that I had this gold mine of healthy food and wasn't sharing it with those that needed it the most. And many years later, I began to sell to you, the general public.

I have days when I think I must be crazy to have a family including 4 kids running around, run a dairy farm, attend farmers markets and coordinate with other producers to offer fresh foods, then I see it. That look in a person's eye when they tell me they can drink milk again. Or their overall health is improving. Or they haven't had to deal with their usual gut problems. Or my favorite, when a child brings back an empty jar and asks for more milk from the Milk Lady that doesn't make their tummy hurt. And the look of relief on their Mom's face. Oh that one gets me. I know that look all too well. That's why I do what I do.
